WNBA reveals why A'ja Wilson was not ejected for approaching Fever fan during playoff game
Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson wasn’t ejected for confronting an Indiana Fever fan during Game 2 of their WNBA first-round playoff series because officials determined she remained in an area beside the basket that they considered part of the court area, OutKick has learned.
Following an in-game review during Tuesday’s Aces-Fever playoff game, officials concluded that Wilson was in a player escape lane adjacent to the basket stanchion. That determination was the basis for allowing the Las Vegas star to remain in the game, according to a league source.
The WNBA also reviewed the incident and found that the fan had not violated its Fan Code of Conduct.
OutKick asked the league whether Wilson would face additional discipline, including a fine or suspension, but did not receive an answer to that question before publication. The Athletic reported Thursday that Wilson would not face further league discipline and would be available for Game 3 against the Fever.

The explanation addresses a question OutKick raised with the league after the confrontation: Why wasn’t Wilson ejected under a rule requiring players to be removed for deliberately entering the stands?
Rule 12A, Section V, subsection l(4) of the 2026 WNBA Official Rule Book requires an ejection for "Deliberately entering the stands other than as a continuance of play."
The rulebook’s player conduct section also specifies where the stands begin.
"The first row of seats is considered the beginning of the stands."
Despite Wilson walking into an area where fans were seated, officials determined that she had remained in the court area. They classified the space she occupied as a player escape lane rather than part of the stands, according to the league source.
Wilson received a technical foul for unsportsmanlike conduct following the fourth-quarter incident at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. She approached the fan near the baseline, and teammates intervened during the confrontation. Afterward, Wilson defended her reaction, saying she believed the fan had stepped toward her and pointed at her.
"I don’t give a damn what you said. I don’t give a damn how you said it, the tone, that is unacceptable," Wilson said.
She also apologized to her teammates for receiving the technical.
The Fever had already determined that the spectator had not broken the arena’s rules. In a postgame statement, the team said security personnel had spoken with the fan and witnesses, found no code-of-conduct violation and considered the matter closed.

The league’s subsequent review reached the same conclusion about the fan.
There is an important distinction between additional discipline and the standard consequences of a technical foul. The rulebook provides for fines for unsportsmanlike technical fouls. It also gives the commissioner discretion to impose a fine or suspension regardless of whether a player was ejected.
In other words, the game officials’ ruling on Wilson’s location did not prevent the league from imposing additional punishment.
Indiana won Tuesday’s game 99-89 to even the first-round series. The deciding Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at 9 p.m. ET in Las Vegas.
The WNBA has explained why officials did not eject Wilson. But if the league considers the technical foul sufficient punishment for confronting a fan it determined broke no rules, that deserves an explanation, too.
What to know about pentobarbital after death row inmate survives 2 lethal injection doses
A high-profile execution attempt in Nashville ended in chaos and raised urgent medical questions after Tennessee death row inmate Christa Gail Pike survived two separate doses of lethal pentobarbital, the Associated Press reported.
Pentobarbital is a short-acting barbiturate, according to medical authorities at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Historically prescribed as a sedative, anti-seizure medication or sleep aid, pentobarbital enhances the activity of GABA, the brain's primary inhibitory neurotransmitter, slowing activity throughout the central nervous system.
TENNESSEE DEATH ROW INMATE SURVIVES 2 LETHAL INJECTION DOSES IN FAILED EXECUTION ATTEMPT
In clinical medicine, pentobarbital has been used for several purposes, including the following.
Because newer, safer drugs with lower risks of overdose have largely replaced barbiturates in hospital settings, pentobarbital is now rarely used in routine patient care.
However, it remains a primary agent in veterinary euthanasia and lethal injection protocols across several U.S. states, according to the National Library of Medicine, FDA-approved veterinary drug labeling and the Death Penalty Information Center.
In a high-dose lethal injection protocol, pentobarbital is administered intravenously in large, ultra-lethal quantities — typically 2.5 to 5 grams (far exceeding clinical therapeutic doses).

When injected directly into a vein, the progression follows three stages, according to medical sources.
Pike, 50, who was convicted in the 1995 murder of classmate Colleen Slemmer, was slated to become the first woman executed in Tennessee in more than 200 years.
Media witnesses observed her asking if her arm was supposed to feel that way (burning), breathing raggedly, and audibly snoring behind closed curtains over an hour-long span.
The incident prompted Tennessee Governor Bill Lee to halt all remaining executions in the state pending an independent investigation.

According to statements from the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC), officials administered two doses of pentobarbital, in accordance with the state's established single-drug execution protocol.
State officials maintained that they strictly adhered to the protocol and that the chemical supply was verified.
Media witnesses and defense court filings described several problems during the procedure.

Several possible explanations have been raised in court filings and medical literature, although no cause has been confirmed in Pike’s case.
As state officials investigate the failed execution, Pike remains under medical observation while legal challenges continue over whether Tennessee may legally attempt a second execution, per reports.

Pierpaolo Piccioli presents ‘most personal show’ at Balenciaga
Italian designer imbues collection with signature flourishes and style rooted in the craft of the couture atelier
It was “the most personal show I have done here”, the designer Pierpaolo Piccioli said after his Balenciaga presentation at Paris fashion week on Thursday.
Piccioli, who always wears a coral necklace, placed a monumental sculpture of undersea coral crafted from fabric in the middle of the catwalk. Like Cristóbal Balenciaga, Piccioli is both a maximalist and a minimalist. He likes boldness but not fuss, each look one audacious idea executed cleanly. A floor-length ivory cape fastened with a simple gold clasp. A black suit with one bold slash of tangerine at the jacket hem. A gown covered from neck to ankle in bubbles of organza.
