Will Colts TE Tyler Warren play vs. Titans in Week 6?
Will Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren play today against the Tennessee Titans?
Tyler Warren's game-day status vs. the TitansWarren was not on the injury report the first two days, but appeared on Friday with a groin injury. He was listed as a limited participant and is questionable for Sunday's game.
We will update this post as reports come in Sunday morning.
Tyler Warren's 2026 season statsWarren has been a big part of the Colts' passing game, leading the team in targets, receptions, and touchdowns. His 213 receiving yards are the second-most on the team. Last week he had his most productive game, totaling 83 receiving yards.
Along with what Warren adds to the passing game, he plays a key role as a blocker in the run game, and his do-it-all skill set opens up the playbook for Shane Steichen.
Colts tight end depth chartAlso on the roster at tight end, the Colts have Mo Alie-Cox, Drew Ogletree, Will Mallory, and Pharaoh Brown.
Alie-Cox and Ogletree are blocking-first options, while Mallory is more of a pass-catching threat. However, no tight end brings the same well-rounded, do-it-all skill set to the offense like Warren.

Chelsea keeper Martinez 'back in a few weeks' after jaw fracture
Emiliano Martinez will miss time with a fractured jaw (PETER POWELL)Chelsea goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez said he would be fit to return "in a few weeks" following surgery on a fractured jaw sustained during his team's 2-0 Premier League win at Everton.
The Argentina international was taken to hospital after colliding with Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite during the second half of Saturday's game at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Martinez, 34, required eight minutes of treatment on the pitch before he was carried off on a stretcher. Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso later said he had suffered a concussion.
"Thanks to everyone for the messages. The operation went well," Martinez wrote on social media on Sunday alongside a photo of himself in a hospital bed.
"The most important thing is that we won, and kept a clean sheet. We'll be back in a few weeks."
Mike Penders is set to deputise in Martinez's absence. The 21-year-old made his Premier League debut as a substitute against Everton.
He joined from Belgian club Genk in August 2024 and has spent the past two seasons out on loan, including a spell at Strasbourg last term.

‘He’s the boss!’ – PSG’s Luis Enrique responds to Ousmane Dembélé’s holiday remarks
‘He’s the boss!’ – PSG’s Luis Enrique responds to Ousmane Dembélé’s holiday remarksOusmane Dembélé (29) wasn’t even in the Paris Saint-Germain squad to face Le Mans FC last weekend. The France international was given a break, with a key UEFA Champions League tie against Manchester City coming up on the Wednesday.
After being granted holidays by Luis Enrique, he returned to training on the Sunday. Dembélé would go on to net one of PSG’s four goals at the Etihad en route to victory over Manchester City (2-4).
Post-match, the Frenchman joked that he may ask for even more holiday later in the season. “After the international break, I went on holiday. In fact, I might just ask for another one…,” he quipped on CanalPlus.“On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, I really enjoy playing… especially when I’m back from holiday!”
Dembélé on the scoresheet again for PSGOn Friday, Luis Enrique responded to the Ballon d’Or winner. “He’s the boss! If he wants holiday [leave], he makes the request; he will get it,” joked the PSG manager ahead of the game against RC Strasbourg Alsace. “He is always joking. I like his way of experiencing football, his passion for football. It is clearly a joke, but I am always open if players need rest,” he added.
It was once again a rotated side that faced Strasbourg on Saturday, but once again, the cavalry was called upon around the hour mark. Dembélé was one of those to come on with PSG 1-0 down. He missed a penalty but then went on to set up Illia Zabarnyi’s equaliser in the 77th minute. He put Les Parisiens ahead in the 85th minute. Désiré Doué added the third goal in a 3-1 win in injury time. Barcelona await on Tuesday.
Caitlin Clark’s rumoured letter to Angel Reese before WNBA Finals explained
Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty ImagesA viral rumour on social media claims that Caitlin Clark sent a letter to Angel Reese before the 2026 WNBA Finals.
Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream didn’t have the best of starts to the 2026 WNBA Finals, as they were handed a 68-64 defeat by the Golden State Valkyries in Game 1.
However, let’s put that aside for a second, as a rumour is spreading on social media about Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark allegedly sending a letter to Reese before the game.
The rumour went as far as claiming that Clark sent the alleged handwritten letter by a pigeon to the Dream star.
Caitlin Clark sending Angel Reese a letter ‘carried by a pigeon’ is falseOnce again X handle ‘Fever Update’ has spread this misinformation, attempting to spark a fight between Clark and Reese’s fanbases.
The X handle claimed that Clark sent Reese a letter about how proud she was of the Dream star for fulfilling her ambition of playing in the WNBA Finals.
The post tried to convince fans by using a fake screenshot from Reese’s Instagram handle. After all, Reese has posted no such story on her IG account.
So, as usual, the X handle’s claim is false and an attempt to spread misinformation about two of the biggest stars in the WNBA.

Real Madrid manager suggests Vinicius should have joined Arsenal
Real Madrid manager suggests Vinicius should have joined ArsenalJose Mourinho has suggested Vinicius Junior should have taken the opportunity to join Arsenal over the summer, whilst praising the Real Madrid winger for not doing so.Photo by Judit Cartiel/Getty Images
Vinicius Junior was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal over the summer, but he opted to sign a contract extension with Real Madrid instead.
The new season hasn’t got off to the best start for the winger, and now Real boss Jose Mourinho has suggested he would have left Madrid if he were in Vinicius’ shoes.
“If I were in his position, I probably would not have stayed here,” Mourinho said. “I would have forced the club to let me leave for a country where they respect me, but he has stayed because of his sense of belonging to Real Madrid and his love for the club.”
“He believes that things can improve, and that is why he keeps smiling,” Mourinho added. “Nothing and no one can take that smile away from him.
“When he renewed his contract, he signed to say that Real Madrid is his home, and he had the enthusiasm to carry on making history and winning titles.
“I have serious doubts that I would have had the same strength to stay here, despite all the offers that were in front of him.”

Vinicius is currently serving a four-match suspension, having received a red card for pulling the hair of Villarreal’sNathan Saliba. The Real Madrid winger was given two matches for the incident itself, plus a further two games for his furious reaction towards the referee.
Unfortunately, the four-match ban includes next week’s El Clásico away to Barcelona, as well as games against Sevilla (H), Racing Santander (A), and Valencia (A).
Vinicius has also only scored one goal in his first 10 appearances of the new campaign, albeit whilst also providing three assists. All the same, Mourinho clearly believes the 26-year-old will ultimately come good, despite his current struggles in Spain.

Andoni Iraola confirms double Liverpool blow after Brentford win
Andoni Iraola confirms double Liverpool blow after Brentford winLiverpool Injury Update as Andoni Iraola Confirms Setback for Jeremie Frimpong and Dominik SzoboszlaiLiverpool left Brentford with three points and a 2-1 victory, but the mood around Andoni Iraola was tempered by the kind of injury news that can sour a good afternoon. In the hard light that follows a narrow win, the head coach admitted the Reds now face a difficult spell without Jeremie Frimpong and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Szoboszlai’s afternoon ended after 32 minutes at the Gtech Community Stadium, a worrying development given he had already missed Liverpool’s previous two matches with a fitness problem. Iraola made it clear that this was no fresh issue, but a recurrence of the same concern, the sort of setback that suggests a player was asked to go again before the body was fully ready.
Frimpong’s situation was different, but little less troubling. Introduced at half-time to exploit Liverpool’s advantage against 10 men, he lasted only a matter of minutes before being forced off, with Victor Munoz switching to right-back. It was one of those moments that tells its own story, a plan undone before it had time to breathe.

Photo: IMAGO
Iraola explains Liverpool injury concernThe Liverpool head coach said: “I think we have a very delicate situation. We were coming from playing Champions League away two days ago, we arrived [home] late at night and probably with not a proper recovery.
“You are in doubt between the players that have already started two games and are very tired, or the players that are recovering from injuries but you’re probably not 100 per cent certain. “They were different cases. Dom felt the same injury, it’s not a new injury and was probably not healed enough, so we will need more time with him. Jeremie’s was new, I think he finished cramping the other day [against LASK]. “I put him on because playing against 10, going forward I thought he could give us more than Ronald [Araujo]. After, I value a lot and he was very good, Victor playing as a right-back. “But it will mean we will lose Dom and Jeremie for some time, yes.”Brentford win comes at a costThere was honesty in that assessment and a sense of calculation too. Iraola is juggling fatigue, European travel and players on the edge of fitness, all before the season has settled into rhythm. Liverpool won the game, but there was a price attached.
The immediate concern is depth. Szoboszlai has become an important presence in midfield and Frimpong offers thrust and unpredictability from wide areas. Their absence leaves Iraola with decisions to make and little room for sentiment. At this stage of a campaign, momentum matters, but so does survival. Liverpool have kept moving, yet the road ahead already looks more demanding.
ESPN journalist celebrates career with collection of best investigative reporting and storytelling
Seth Wickersham, a top sports journalist with ESPN in Bristol for over 25 years, has assembled his best work into a nearly 500-page paperback collection. “Be On That Hill: Stories from the Summits of Sport,” released in September by Hyperion Avenue Books, is a weighty tome but an easy read.
Wickersham writes expressly for sports enthusiasts, as a journalist for the premiere sports information brand in the country, but readers who don’t know what “jump a route” or “in the box” means or what an offensive coordinator does will also get a lot out of “Be on That Hill.” Wickersham’s passion for sports captures the casual or uninitiated reader along with the hardcore fans and historians. That enthusiasm and deep journalistic interest is there whether he’s writing about football (the subject of most of the book’s articles), basketball, thoroughbred racing (from the perspective of those who have to put the horses down) or rugby.
There’s a lot of namedropping, since Wickersham gets to hobnob with the likes of Deion Sanders (when, following his retirement from the NFL, he threw himself into the role of mentoring other players), Patrick Mahomes (who, in Wickersham’s quest to uncover the secret of his miraculous throwing arm, “doesn’t look like he wants to be explored”) and Tom Brady (who always seemed to have “more to prove”).
But Wickersham doesn’t go for statistics-filled hagiographies. He finds the humanity in these larger-than-life figures. He gets his subjects to put down the ball for a minute and talk about families, fortunes, fears and futures.
The stars he meets aren’t restricted to fields, courts and diamonds. For a fascinating story on the phenomenon of stadium sports sing-alongs such as “We Will Rock You,” Wickersham met with Queen guitarist Brian May.
“There’s a huge parallel between figures in sports and figures in the arts, Wickersham said. “They’re both willing to stand out there on that stage and risk embarrassment, failure and ridicule.”
The book’s title comes not from a sports quote but the Bruce Springsteen song “Darkness on the Edge of Town”: “Tonight I’ll be on that hill ’cause I can’t stop/I’ll be on that hill with everything I got.”
Wickersham, who grew up mainly in Alaska and “always wrote for the school papers,” already had the itch to be a sportswriter when he began studying magazine journalism at the University of Missouri. Among others, he was a fan of the writing of Jim Murray, the longtime Los Angeles Times sports columnist who died in 1998.
“He was a fun writer,” Wickersham said. “He understood that people came to the sports page to be entertained. There’s so much scrutiny of sports that it has become like politics. That aspect of having fun with it has slipped away. I try to make it entertaining.”
Wickersham got a job with ESPN The Magazine shortly after graduating in 2000 and moved to Connecticut. While he admired columnists such as Murray, he said “I never wanted to be a columnist myself. I wanted to write beyond the game. I wanted to use creativity, create a sense of timelessness. The greatest thing about sports is that there’s a purity to it.”
For the “Be on That Hill” collection, Wickersham said he “went through every story I’ve ever written. I have a hard copy of every feature I’ve ever done.”
The stories in the book were published between 2005 and 2024. Some come from ESPN The Magazine, the monthly print publication the sports network published from 1998 through 2019, and the rest come from ESPN.com, which still offers long-form magazine-style articles online.
Beyond simply choosing his best-known and most memorable pieces, Wickersham said, “I wanted this book to have an arc. They’re the stories I’m most proud of, but I wanted to be able to organize them into themes. He notes that the stories are generally not based around specific games or events but have a more universal quality.
The oldest article in the book, “Playing for Pride” from 2005, is one that was not likely to have aged as well as it has. It concerns how gay and straight men banded together on the San Francisco Fog rugby team. Wickersham hung out with the players at a postgame celebration in a bar in San Francisco’s famously LGBTQ+ district The Castro. “I wondered if it would hold up,” Wickersham said of the story, which focuses on teamwork and friendship. “At the time, there hadn’t been anybody in professional sports who’d come out.”
Wickersham’s previous books are “American Kings: A Biography of the Quarterback,” published in 2021, and “It’s Better to Be Feared: The New England Patriots Dynasty and the Pursuit of Greatness,” which came out just last year. Both were national bestsellers.
Wickersham only did one public appearance in Connecticut regarding “Be On That Hill,” packing the River Bend Bookshop in West Hartford earlier this month, and said that unlike his earlier books, for which he did book signings and tours, this one’s future will likely be as a textbook in college journalism classes. Both Wickersham’s 13-page introduction to the book and the foreword by ESPN senior writer Wright Thompson concentrate on the craft of writing. Then, with an opening article on mountain climbing, the games begin.
PCB snubs Michael Atherton, Nasser Hussain after Imran Khan interview controversy
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named a six-member commentary panel for the men’s ODI tri-series involving Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka, scheduled to be played from October 18 to 31, with prominent English commentators Michael Atherton and Nasser Hussain missing from the line-up.The omission comes two months after the duo interviewed Kasim and Sulaiman Khan, sons of jailed former Pakistan Prime Minister and cricket legend Imran Khan, during the Lord’s Test between England and Pakistan in August 2026. The PCB has not provided any reason for their absence from the upcoming assignment.
Atherton and Hussain are among the most prominent voices in international cricket commentary and were part of the broadcast team when England last toured Pakistan for a three-match Test series in October 2024.
The interview with Imran Khan’s sons, conducted by Atherton and aired by Sky Sports, lasted 18 minutes and raised concerns over the former Pakistan captain’s deteriorating health in prison. Kasim and Sulaiman alleged that the authorities were ‘blatantly trying to kill him’ through neglect and isolation.
The broadcast triggered a strong reaction from the PCB, which objected to what it considered the political nature of the segment and filed a formal complaint with Sky Sports. The situation reportedly intensified to the point that the board threatened a player walkout, with Pakistan considering staying off the field for the afternoon session in protest.
Sky Sports went ahead with the interview despite the pressure, although Pakistan’s state broadcaster PTV censored the segment. Atherton subsequently addressed the controversy on a podcast with Hussain, defending his involvement and saying the Pakistani state was attempting to ‘airbrush Imran almost out of existence’.
For the upcoming tri-series, the commentary line-up features former Pakistan internationals Waqar Younis, Aamir Sohail, Bazid Khan and Urooj Mumtaz, alongside Sri Lanka’s Roshan Abeysinghe and England’s Mark Butcher. Zainab Abbas will serve as the presenter.
Younis will join the panel from the second fixture, when Pakistan meet England at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on October 20. The tournament opens on Sunday, October 18, with Pakistan facing Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi.

Detroit will return to action with a home date in Week 7 against NFC North rival Green Bay from Ford Field. That starts a stretch of 12 straight games for the Lions to close the 2026 regular season.
As the Lions enjoy their bye week, Detroit owns the NFL's No. 6 total offense (393.8 yards per game) and is tied with Buffalo for the NFL's top scoring offense (32.8 points per game). Quarterback Jared Goff has thrown for 1,485 yards and 12 touchdowns with no interceptions.
Running back Jahmyr Gibbs is off to another terrific start, running for 504 yards and seven touchdowns through five games. Gibbs has added 243 receiving yards and two touchdown catches.
But, the Lions are still trying to shore up a leaky secondary that is surrendering a league-high 297.4 passing yards per game. Detroit also ranks last in the NFL in total defense (404.4 yards per game) and 29th in scoring defense (29.6 points per game).
The Lions did put together their best defensive performance and all-around performance in Week 5 ahead of their bye. Detroit rolled past Arizona, 45-21, to head into its off week. Detroit leads the NFL in sacks with 20, giving the Lions something to feel good about defensively.
As Lions fans enjoy a Sunday to just kick back and watch a full slate of football, here's Detroit's remaining 2026 schedule:

Is Patriots OT Will Campbell playing today?
New England Patriots left tackle Will Campbell is questionable to play in Sunday's game against the New York Jets.
Campbell, who went down with a knee injury in last week's win over the Las Vegas Raiders, was limited throughout the week at practice. NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported earlier in the week that the second-year offensive lineman "avoided a major knee injury" and is "considered week-to-week."
It's important to keep in mind that the team did not activate offensive tackle Marcus Bryant, who returned to practice this week as a limited participant. Bryant not being in the mix could signal that the team is leaning toward Campbell playing in the game.
When Campbell went down last week, rookie offensive tackle Caleb Lomu stepped up in a pinch and helped fill the void. The same would likely be true if Campbell isn't able to go on Sunday.
But what would that mean against an underrated Jets defense that is currently ranked top-five in the league? It would put added pressure on a Patriots offensive line that is already missing starting right guard Mike Onwenu.

Enough with the fights and tantrums. NFL must fix sportsmanship problem | Opinion
With Week 6 in the NFL rolling on with a typically vast menu of subplots and drama, here are some things we don’t need to see amid all the riveting action:
- A sucker-punch in the face from one player to another while teams mingle on the field after a hard-fought game.
- A sideline skirmish where a linebacker with his helmet on headbutts an opposing linebacker not wearing a helmet.
- A referee dressing down a player who accidentally bumped into him, knocking him to the turf.
- A scuffle on the opening kickoff that ignites a brawl.
- A head coach cursing out an official because he doesn’t agree with a defensive holding call.
- A line judge using profanity as he berates a tight end who dared question the officiating.
- Touchdown celebrations that involve shooting imaginary weapons, smoking a joint or some sexually suggestive hip-thrusting.
- An in-your-face act of taunting…after some routine catch moves the chains for a first down.
Of course, if you’ve been watching closely, you know that I’m not making this stuff up. As indicated by the aforementioned episodes – all from this season and most from the past two weeks – the NFL has a serious sportsmanship problem on its hands.
No, this has not suddenly sprung up like those weeds in your backyard. This stuff has been growing for years and the weed-prevention fertilizer sprayed by the league office – suspensions, fines, warnings – has hardly eradicated all the tacky behavior.
Sure, football is a tough, violent sport with extreme physical toll. Emotions run hot and heavy. Yet incidents that cross the line of respect are becoming too common.
Something has to give before it spins way out of control.
“It’s on all of us,” Troy Vincent, the NFL’s executive vice president for football operations, told USA TODAY Sports. “We owe it to the game. Every individual – every player, coach, official – should be afforded dignity and respect as a professional.”
That sounds great. Mindful. Responsible. And easier said than done.
Larger impact of bad behavior in the NFLI’ve talked to Vincent about these matters of sportsmanship for years, as the league has increasingly cracked down on extra-curricular behavior – always in the rulebook yet enforced with varying degrees of emphasis over the years – which includes fighting, profane language to officials and some celebrations.
And hey, there’s been at least another couple of generations of players come through the not-for-long NFL since Vincent took over his current post in 2014.
Yet for all the emphasis on conduct, which layers on top of safety-inspired rules designed to better protect defenseless players, such efforts too often go by the wayside in the heat of the moment.
Vincent, bless him, is a former Pro Bowl defensive back who is so passionate about the cause in his role that includes overseeing game officials.
“You’ve got to keep a constant reminder of our responsibility to society,” said Vincent, mindful that NFL examples – good and bad – have impact on lower levels of the sport.
“It’s not where you’re from, it’s where you’re at,” he added. “If you want to be a gang-banger, go back home. If you want to be a street fighter, go back home.”
No, Vincent stresses, the NFL can’t slack up in maintaining standards.
“Whatever you tolerate, you won’t change,” he said.
Ahem.
Players suspended for on-field actionsThe NFL suspended two players for one game each for their egregious actions in Week 5. San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw headbutted Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones IV after tensions flared when he slammed quarterback Sam Darnold to the ground in Seattle’s bench area on Sunday. The next night, Los Angeles Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson punched Bills linebacker Bradley Chubb as players from both teams carried on with the usual postgame mingling following Buffalo’s thrilling overtime win.
On Saturday, the league issued fines to the two players – $4,972 for Eagles linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and $6,998 for Jaguars defensive end Bryan Thomas Jr. – ejected for fighting on the opening kickoff at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London last weekend.
And these discipline measures came a week after the league took the rare step of suspending two game officials for their on-field behavior. Referee Adrian Hill was suspended one game for chastising Vikings linebacker Eric Wilson, who seemed to accidentally knock the official to the turf. Line judge Jeff Seeman was pulled off the field for two games for cursing at Cardinals tight end Trey McBride, with the exchange captured on video.

How rare is it for the NFL to discipline officials in such a manner?
Since 1984, there was only one case of an official being suspended for on-field conduct. That’s more than 40 years. And here are two pulled off the field for actions on the same day.
The NFL Referees Association (NFLRA), which earlier this year negotiated an extension of the collective bargaining agreement with the NFL that includes stricter measures of accountability, vehemently protested the suspensions on the grounds that the punishment isn’t consistent with discipline – or lack thereof – issued to those who verbally abuse officials.
While game officials should be held to a higher standard, the referees union makes a solid point. Too many coaches – especially – are prone to go way over the top with their explosions in protesting calls.
Mike Vrabel, the New England Patriots coach and a member of the league’s competition committee that works closely with the officiating department in administering rules, should know better. Yet in Week 4, Vrabel was flagged by referee Bill Vinovich for unsportsmanlike conduct after profanely protesting a defensive holding call during the game at Buffalo.
“I probably shouldn’t have swore,” Vrabel admitted. “But I can tell you in my history of being on the sidelines as a head coach, I’ve said that.”
No, Vrabel isn’t the only coach to unload on officials. And that doesn’t make it right.
It’s one thing to question a call or demand an explanation, quite another matter to bring it with so much venom and disrespect. If you’ve seen Eagles coach Nick Sirianni and Jets coach Aaron Glenn berate officials this season, you’ve seen other examples of how not to do it.
You’d think the head coaches would be the example of calm reasoning – and there are certainly examples, like Kansas City’s Andy Reid and the Giants’ John Harbaugh, of respectful conduct.
So when Vincent talks about what’s tolerated, let’s not forget that the head coaches swing so much influence on how their players conduct themselves. In other words, if a coach doesn’t control himself in blasting officials, don’t be surprised if his players are prone to lose their cool.
Of course, the coaches don’t control every action of their players – but they can try when it comes to infractions that cost the team.
The onus is on coaches to demand better.
Then again, I’m not sure what Rams coach Sean McVay could have done to prevent Jackson for taking a swing at Chubb. Although Jackson’s initial two-game suspension was reduced on appeal to one game, he’s yet to publicly explain his action.
Chubb, though, shared his version of the incident that undoubtedly carried over from the competition. Jackson punched him after words were exchanged.
“I’ll tell you exactly what I said,” Chubb told reporters at midweek. “I’ve heard I was talking about his mom. That’s not true.
“I said, ‘We’re gonna see y’all’s a-- again. And when we see you again, all that chipping ain’t going to save you. That tight end and guard is not going to save you.’
“He said, ‘What’d you say?’
“I said, ‘That chip’s not going to save you. The guard’s not going to save you.’ And then, boom.”
Vincent, for one, knows that too often it does not take much to ignite incidents. He is reminded, though, of something Hall of Fame linebacker Willie Lanier told him more than a decade ago, not long after he began his executive role.
“He told me that I could not allow this to become a ‘blood sport,’” Vincent said. “Every man deserves respect and dignity. Everyone is playing to go home to their families.”
Now that’s a noble standard. If only everyone agrees with the memo in the heat of the moment.

Key Barcelona star’s injury has had an unexpected positive effect on Hansi Flick’s team – report
Key Barcelona star’s injury has had an unexpected positive effect on Hansi Flick’s team – reportBarcelona were expected to struggle without Raphinha after the club captain suffered an injury while on international duty with Brazil.
However, the Brazilian superstar’s recent absence has brought an unexpected positive: Hansi Flick’s team have become even less dependent on individual goalscorers.
According to Diario SPORT, five Barcelona players opened their goalscoring accounts across three matches in which Raphinha was either unavailable or absent from the starting line-up.
Five players step up in Raphinha’s absenceRaphinha remains Barcelona’s leading goalscorer this season with 14 goals, but an injury sustained during the international break forced him to miss two matches.
The Brazilian returned against Real Betis on Saturday, playing just 20 minutes as Barcelona secured another emphatic 5-2 victory.
During this period, Anthony Gordon scored twice, while Dani Olmo, Jules Kounde, Rodri and Eric Garcia also found the net.
Rodri is among those who has found the net in Raphinha’s absence. (Screenshot)
Barcelona now have 13 different goalscorers across their opening 11 competitive matches, having scored an extraordinary 48 goals.
Those numbers are particularly impressive given the summer departures of Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres and Marcus Rashford, who contributed a combined 54 goals last season.
Despite those departures, Flick’s attacking system has continued to produce goals at an astonishing rate.
Rodri highlights Barcelona’s collective strengthSpeaking after the victory over Betis, Rodri explained why sharing goalscoring responsibility has become so important.
“We are all important. We don’t have a player who can score 50 or 60 goals, so everyone has to contribute to the goalscoring,” the midfielder said.
Meanwhile, Lamine Yamal has maintained his outstanding individual form, registering nine goals and 10 assists so far this season.
A welcome headache for FlickRaphinha’s importance to Barcelona remains unquestionable, particularly because of his goals, pressing and leadership.
However, his absence has demonstrated that Flick’s team can continue to thrive without relying exclusively on their captain.

The emergence of different goalscorers also makes Barcelona harder to defend against. Opponents cannot simply concentrate on stopping Raphinha and Yamal.
With matches against PSG and Real Madrid approaching, the entire attack will need to contribute if Barça are to secure victories and maintain their perfect run.
Perhaps the biggest benefit is that Flick now has greater freedom to manage Raphinha’s workload without fearing a significant drop in attacking quality.
Barcelona are unquestionably stronger with their captain available, but his injury has shown that they can survive and thrive without him, something that could prove invaluable in the long run.
2027 4-star OT and Texas A&M commit visited ACC program this weekend
Texas A&M's No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class shouldn't be significantly affected by the Aggies' poor start to the 2026 season, even though four-star linebacker Aston Whiteside is visiting Miami this weekend. The Aggies' top-ranked commit, five-star OT Mark Matthews, was expected to visit this weekend, while Miami is also trying to get him on campus soon.
Under third-year coach Mike Elko, Aggie fans aren't pleased with his coaching performance this season, but every one of the 26 commits in the 2027 cycle chose Texas A&M due to their strong relationship with Elko and his staff, especially Mark Matthews, who is very close with OL coach Adam Cushing, feeling that he'll reach his full NFL potential under his development plan.
Texas A&M currently has four offensive line commitments, including four-star OT DeMarrion Johnson, who shut down his recruitment earlier this year, and will reportedly visit SMU this weekend when the Mustangs host Virginia on Saturday, AggieYell insider Jaxson Callaway confirmed.
Johnson visited the Texas Longhorns this summer just weeks after shutting down his recruitment, but the rival program isn't expected to play a major role in his recruitment going forward. Johnson has visited the Aggies multiple times this fall, but will keep weighing his options amid the Aggies' struggles this season.

ESPN tabs Iowa women's basketball guard among top 20 impact transfers
As the 2026-27 women's college basketball season approaches, ESPN ranked Iowa guard Dani Carnegie among its top 20 impact transfers. The former Georgia Bulldog joins an Iowa squad looking to build off its success from last year.
The 5-foot-9, third-year guard rejoins former teammate Chit-Chat Wright in Iowa City, whom she spent one campaign with at Georgia Tech during the 2023-24 season.
Carnegie averaged 17.8 points per game on 42.7% field goal shooting and 35.4% 3-point shooting last season at Georgia. The New York native was a unanimous first-team All-SEC selection last year.
ESPN's Charlie Creme ranked Carnegie No. 3 on his list of impact transfers, behind No. 1 Audi Crooks (Oklahoma State) and No. 2 Addy Brown (UCLA), both of whom transferred from Iowa State in the offseason.
Here's what Creme and ESPN had to say about Carnegie:
After completely changing the fortunes of Georgia a year ago, Carnegie hopes to take the Hawkeyes to the next level. She joins a team with far greater talent and higher expectations. With Carnegie, Iowa can contend at the top of the Big Ten. She is reunited with former Georgia Tech teammate Chazadi "Chit-Chat" Wright and will give the Hawkeyes one of the conference's best backcourts. She averaged 17.8 points per game with the Lady Bulldogs and 12.9 points as a freshman with the Yellow Jackets. - Charlie Creme, ESPN
Carnegie can be expected to shoulder a heavy scoring load in the backcourt alongside Wright and Taylor Stremlow.
"I think that they want to win. They are bought into winning. They're bought into how Iowa has won. That was attractive. And certainly being part of this incredible fan base... I think that was part of the reason for these four to come in. It's fun to play here. It's meaningful to play here. It's special to play here," Iowa head women's basketball coach Jan Jensen said of her transfer additions.
Fans will get their first look at Carnegie and the Hawkeyes in action when they host Maryville in an exhibition on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. CT. Iowa opens its 2026-27 regular season against Towson on Monday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. CT from inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena. B1G+ will stream both contests.

How Lane Kiffin shut down potential Kamario Taylor narrative after LSU’s 31-0 victory
Photo by Tyler Kaufman/Getty ImagesLSU got a statement victory against the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday, and Lane Kiffin doesn’t want to hear anything about their injuries.
The LSU Tigers shut out the Mississippi State Bulldogs in an utterly dominant 31-0 victory on Saturday. They scored all their points in three quarters while not allowing even a field goal to their opponents, giving head coach Lane Kiffin a much-needed win.
The victory did come amid some serious problems for Mississippi State. The team was missing star quarterback Kamario Taylor after his toe injury kept him out of the game. Running back Fluff Bothwell almost missed the game, but Kiffin doesn’t want to hear about any of this.
Lane Kiffin points to LSU’s injury problems after being asked about Kamario Taylor’s absenceTaylor has been the driving force behind the Bulldogs’ resurgence, and his absence was sorely felt for the team. However, the Tigers have had to deal with their own issues on that front this season, too.
Safety Dashawn Spears is out for the year, while linebacker Whit Weeks and tight end Trey’Dez Green are also missing significant chunks of the year. With LSU being forced to work around these problems, it is not surprising that Kiffin didn’t have much sympathy for their rivals this weekend.
“I know you’re going to talk about injuries, and that’ll be a storyline,” Kiffin said after the game. “But hey, there ain’t any team in America that has more significant players standing on the sideline than us. So not a lot of pity there.
“I don’t have a lot of empathy for injuries and breaks. I mean, this team, from Day 1, has gotten more bad breaks this season. You can go to f****** injunctions not being followed, and list the bad breaks throughout this year.”
The head coach’s frustration here is clear, although it is hard to imagine that they would have shut out Mississippi State if Taylor and Bothwell were available. That is football at the end of the day, though. Kiffin and his team deserve to enjoy their victory.
