Another gusty weekend forecasted for windiest stop on PGA Tour
Remember last year’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship, when wind gusts pushed 40 mph on Sunday and Adam Schenk was basically chipping balls around Port Royal en route to victory?
We could see a repeat of that.
Entering this week’s edition, the weather forecast calls for blustery conditions throughout the tournament days. While sustained winds will average about 15 mph with gusts into the low 20s on Thursday and Friday, the fan will be turned up considerably on the weekend.
Saturday’s forecast includes 20-25 mph sustained winds and 25-30 mph gusts. There is also a 70% chance of rain in the morning with scattered showers expected in the afternoon.
On Sunday, a 50% chance of rain will increase to 80% by the afternoon while winds crank up to 23-28 mph with 30-35 mph gusts.
Golf data analyst Rick Gehman noted that Port Royal has been the windiest stop on the PGA Tour since 2018, averaging 15.2 mph, 1.4 mph more than Grand Reserve Golf Club in Puerto Rico.
The field is highlighted by Austin Smotherman, who won a few weeks ago in Utah and is the second highest ranked player in Bermuda at No. 66 in the world rankings, five spots behind Corey Conners. Rookie Ben James, who is up to No. 85 in the world, will also compete, as will several top amateurs, including No. 1 junior Miles Russell, BYU’s Kihei Akina, Stanford’s Jay Leng, Georgia’s Mason Howell and Tennessee’s Rudy Sautron.

Flames’ Ryan Huska Is Suddenly on the Hot Seat, Odds Suggest
Photo by Derek Cain/Getty Images GettyThe Calgary Flames notched a massive win of the season this past weekend has done little to take the heat off head coach Ryan Huska.
In fact, the market is currently pricing in the likelihood of Huska being the first coach to get the heave-ho this season.
The folks at BonusFinder have checked into the market, with the numbers showing that Huska is a +125 shot to go first, an implied probability of 44.4%.
The lines show the market is fairly certain that it’s only a matter of time before Huska gets the ax. Now, it’s worth pointing out that it would make sense for the Flames bench boss to go, given how poorly the team has played. Everyone knew that Calgary would struggle this season. But no one expected it to be this bad.
That’s why Huska might be the first coach to see his job evaporate this season.
After Huska, the market sees Todd McLellan of the Detroit Red Wings at +300. Detroit has missed the playoffs in each of the last 10 seasons and enters the year under interim general manager Shawn Horcoff, but the Red Wings have played better than expected, potentially giving McLellan a little more runway.
Flames May Have More Reason to Keep Ryan Huska Than Fire HimRyan Huska may be the betting favorite to become the NHL’s first coaching casualty, but the Calgary Flames have a compelling reason to resist that temptation: They are entering a rebuild, and changing coaches will not fix the roster.
Calgary’s poor start has been difficult to watch, and the team’s struggles have exceeded even the low expectations entering the season. Still, the Flames were never positioned to compete for a playoff spot. Their roster needs significant work, and the organization is increasingly focused on building for the future rather than squeezing a few extra wins out of the current group.
That makes Huska’s situation different from a coach overseeing an underperforming contender. Calgary does not need a quick turnaround to salvage its season. That wasn’t the plan to begin with the season. If there were some truly compelling reason to make such a massive move, the bottom line is that Huska should just run out the clock.
Rather than firing Huska in October, the Flames could let him finish the season and assess his future in the summer. If management believes he can guide the next phase of the rebuild, there is little reason to make a change now.
Firing Huska Would Do Little to Change Calgary’s SeasonEven if Calgary decided to move on from Huska, what would realistically change? A new coach might provide a short-term emotional boost, but that would not address the roster’s underlying weaknesses or suddenly make the Flames competitive.
The club has struggled to generate consistent offense and has looked vulnerable defensively. Those problems cannot be pinned entirely on the coaching staff. The Flames need more talent, and the rebuilding process will take time regardless of who stands behind the bench.
There is also little value in hiring a replacement simply to oversee the same difficult season. If the Flames are committed to a teardown, it makes little sense to bring in a head coach to oversee the gradual decline of the team. The entire point of a coaching change would be to kickstart the team, not oversee its eventual fire sale.
The exception would be if management genuinely believed the roster could avoid a full rebuild and return to contention quickly. In that scenario, a coaching change might be part of a broader effort to reverse course.
But unless Calgary has a realistic alternative, firing Huska now would amount to changing the face of the problem rather than addressing it. The Flames would be better served by letting the season unfold, evaluating the coaching staff alongside the roster and making a deliberate decision in the offseason.

Jaden McDaniels, Timberwolves reportedly agree to one-year $40 million extension for 2029-30
Jaden McDaniels has looked very good for Minnesota this preseason, averaging 24.8 points in less than 21 minutes a night while shooting 60.6% from the field and an unsustainable but promising 71.4% from beyond the arc. If Minnesota is going to thrive in the Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball era, McDaniels' two-way contributions will be key.
That is why the Timberwolves agreed to terms on a one-year, $40 million extension for the 2029-30 NBA season, a deal first reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania.
McDaniels is already under contract for this season and the next two at a total of $84 million. This new $40 million year will be more than a $10 million bump from the previous year, rewarding a player who will be critical to the team. He is now signed for four years and $124 million. This contract also takes McDaniels to 10 years of service, allowing him to potentially chase more money in the summer of 2030.
McDaniels is a 6'9" forward best known for his elite defense, but whose offensive game has shown real growth in recent seasons. Last season he averaged 14.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, shooting 41.2% from 3-point range. In the playoffs last season, McDaniels showed more offensive creation in his game and averaged 16.3 points per game.
The Timberwolves need McDaniels' defense on the court, the fact that his offensive game is taking a step forward makes him that much more critical to what Minnesota wants to do.
The Timberwolves now have McDaniels locked up through 2030, and Ball and Edwards through 2029 (reserve Ayo Dosunmu also is under contract through 2030). The next big contract Minnesota needs to consider is center Rudy Gobert, who can be a free agent next summer but has a $38 million player option for the 2027-28 season.
Sarah Strong, Jovana Popovic lead UConn women's basketball to preseason win over Texas

(Photo by Joe Buglewicz/Getty Images) (Joe Buglewicz/Getty Images)
HARTFORD - It's not often Geno Auriemma gets a real eye test of his team before the start of the regular season.
Preseason games have been reserved for secret scrimmages behind closed doors and exhibitions against mismatched opponents. The UConn women's basketball team would play one or two lower-level programs, often a Division II team, and absolutely blow out the box score. Sure, it helped give players minutes and allowed Auriemma space to test out lineups, but it never put the Huskies in a competitive environment.
That wasn't the case Monday against Texas.
The Huskies and Longhorns, both 2026 Final Four teams and led by All-American forwards, went back and forth throughout the first half. UConn's tandem of Jovana Popovic and Sarah Strong dominated on offense, while Texas' size frustrated the Huskies.
And even though the game counts toward nothing and won't matter in any standings or postseason seeding, it forced the Huskies to work through adversity and step up. UConn won 83-61 and, most importantly, gave Auriemma a clearer understanding of his team heading into the final two weeks of the preseason.
UConn was led by Strong with 27 points, three rebounds, three assists, three blocks and one steal. Popovic followed with 22 points (7-of-11 shooting), a team-high seven rebounds, a team-high five assists and one steal. The Huskies shot better against the Longhorns than in their preseason opener against Syracuse (finished 3-of-22 from deep) last week. Against Texas, UConn finished 10-of-18 from the perimeter and outshot Texas 54% to the Longhorns' 43%.
Texas was led by All-American Madison Booker with 23 points, six rebounds and one assist.
Just like last week against Syracuse, in their first preseason exhibition, the Huskies only had 10 available players. Blanca Quiñonez (shoulder) and Marine Dursus (ankle) remain out recovering, while redshirt sophomore Morgan Cheli was a late scratch to the injury report. A UConn spokesperson confirmed before the game that Cheli is "day-to-day," but did not specify why.
Huskies close out their preseason slate on Sunday, hosting Army at 4 p.m. in Storrs. The 2026-27 regular season officially tips off two weeks from Monday, on Nov. 2, when UConn hosts Cornell in Hartford.
Here are the main takeaways from UConn's exhibition win over Texas:
The Good- Jovana Popovic and Sarah Strong's connection: From full-court length passes to dazzling layups, the two were unstoppable, combining for 22 of UConn's first 29 points. Halfway through the second quarter, Popovic heaved a football-ball-like pass down to Strong by the Huskies' basket. The star forward caught the ball, took a step and made the bucket even with a defender in front. One of Strong's eight straight points in a span of 57 seconds. Popovic and Strong combined for 59 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, three blocks and two steals.
- Allie Ziebell's return: The junior guard made her preseason debut after missing last week's game against Syracuse due to an ankle injury. Ziebell came in about four minutes into the game. Her first points came off a steal-and-score in the second quarter. Ziebell looked confident back on the floor, never hesitating to take her shot. She finished with eight points, two rebounds, one block and one steal in 21 minutes.
- Defense: UConn outscored Texas 19-8 in the third quarter and held the Longhorns to just 2-of-14 from the floor in the frame. The Huskies double-teamed Booker as Ashlynn Shade held the primary assignment on the Texas star. UConn pressed the Longhorns early and scored 21 points off Texas' 15 turnovers.
- Turnovers: The Huskies turned it over on their first possession of the first and second quarters. Whether it was lack of communication or poor execution, UConn let the ball slip out of control often. By halftime, Texas had scored 14 points off the Huskies' 11 turnovers. Some of that sloppiness is expected in a preseason game where chemistry between players is still developing, and lineups are still being experimented with. UConn finished with 17 turnovers.
- Breaking Texas' press: The Longhorns pressed UConn hard and repeatedly. While UConn could often break through the press, it flustered its offense into an uncontrollable pace – resulting in said turnovers. Having to waste time on the clock trying to look for the best inbound pass sped up UConn's offense and exhausted its guards as they worked hard to get around Texas' length.

Detroit Pistons Release Injury Report Ahead Of Season Opener Vs. Celtics
On the eve of their regular season opener, the Detroit Pistons have released their first injury report of the 2026-27 campaign ahead of their matchup tomorrow afternoon with the Boston Celtics.
Tip-off between the two Eastern Conference squads is set for 3 pm, and the Pistons are expected to stick close to their standard rotation from the preseason given since a couple reserve players landed on the injury report, but Detroit is mostly healthy for their season opener.
Here is the latest on the expected depth chart for Tuesday’s long-awaited matchup:
Pistons-Celtics early injury report.
Taurean Prince questionable due to personal reasons. pic.twitter.com/Avmqq3dv9z
Right off the bat, the Pistons applied G-League designations to Isaac Jones and Ugonna Onyenso, so those big men will be inactive for the night as two-way players. As a result, the Detroit center position depth chart will stop at Tolu Smith for their game against the Celtics with Jalen Duren and Paul Reed occupying the first and second-string spots.
During the preseason, Jones played a bit more often than Onyenso, who the organization views as more of a developmental big man with tremendous rim-protecting potential. But since the Pistons had to hand out inactive roles to at least three players for the season opener, both players will take in Tuesday afternoon’s contest from the sidelines.
Moving down on the injury report, Taurean Prince is listed as questionable due to personal reasons, so he’s likely to be a game-time decision by tomorrow. If he’s unable to go, then the Pistons are expected to activate Elijah Harkless for the season opener. But since Prince’s status has a trickle-down impact on Harkless, the latter is also listed as questionable until Taurean’s status is sorted out.
For the most part, the Pistons are healthy entering the regular season, so they’ll have an opportunity to test out their A-team against the Celtics best offering. On Boston’s side of the equation, the Celtics announced that Devin Carter will be out due to injury/illness, though he was the lone inclusion for the Joe Mazzulla-led outfit.
Last season, the Pistons carved out a 3-1 advantage over the Celtics in the season series, but the two groups are in completely different spots this time around. Detroit shifted to a more perimeter-focused attack after some offseason turnover, while the Celtics opted to take their team in a different direction by cutting ties with Jaylen Brown during July in favor of Paul George.
Taking those changes into consideration, both the Pistons and Celtics still have the highest of expectations for how far each squad can go, so they each will be looking to make a statement— the first statement— of the new season tomorrow afternoon inside Little Caesars Arena.
Spurs Make 4-for-1 Trade With Lakers in G League
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - JULY 10: Malik Williams #22 of the Chicago Bulls and Cameron Boozer #27 of the Memphis Grizzlies vie for a loose ball in the second half of a 2026 NBA Summer League game at the Thomas & Mack Center on July 10, 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada. NOTE TO USER: User expressly acknowledges and agrees that, by downloading and or using this photograph, User is consenting to the terms and conditions of the Getty Images License Agreement. (Photo by Ethan Miller/Getty Images) GettyThe San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers pulled off a trade at the G League level on Monday to start getting their rosters in shape for that season to begin, too.
All the focus this time of year is on the NBA teams that begin the season on Tuesday, but the G League has grown in such a way that these teams are all putting together strong plans for what their minor league affiliate is up to, as well.
So when there was a 4-for-1 trade announced on Monday between the Austin Spurs and Coachella Valley Lakers, it was definitely worth paying attention to — you never know when these players may play a role later in the actual NBA season and not just the G League.
Spurs-Lakers G League Trade DetailsThe Coachella Valley Lakers announced this trade on their official social media account on Monday evening.
The Lakers’ G League team is acquiring Micah Potter, Stanley Umude, James Banks III and Isaiah Miller.
The Spurs’ G League team gets just one player back, the center Malik Williams.
OFFICIAL: The Coachella Valley Lakers have acquired the returning player rights to center Micah Potter, guard Stanley Umede, center James Banks III and guard Isaiah Miller from the Austin Spurs in exchange for the returning player rights to center Malik Williams.
— Coachella Valley Lakers (@CValleyLakers) October 19, 2026
Player valuations don’t quite work the same in G League trades, as there are other layers of contract situations and roster space in play — but it’s worth considering who Williams is since he’s the only guy the Austin Spurs got.
Who is Malik Williams?Malik Williams is a 27-year-old center who played college basketball at Louisville.
He was a top-25 recruit in the Class of 2027 and is originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Williams stands 6-foot-11 and has appeared in seven career NBA games — all with the Toronto Raptors in 2023-24. Williams averaged 2.7 points, 5.4 rebounds and 0.6 blocks per game in that stint.
In the G League, Williams was a star last season for the College Park Skyhawks — he averaged 16.1 points, 10.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.6 blocks per game. He also shot 31.3% from 3-point range on high volume.
The Spurs may be just intrigued enough by Williams’ increased outside shooting last year to get a closer look at him.
Who Lakers Got From Spurs in G League TradeThe Coachella Valley Lakers received center Micah Potter, guard Stanley Umude, center James Banks III and guard Isaiah Miller.
Potter is the most interesting — he is a 6-foot-9 frontcourt player who has shot 38.9% from 3-point range in 111 career NBA games.
Umude has appeared in 49 career NBA games as a 6-foot-6 wing.
Banks is 28 years old and stands 6-foot-10. His final college season was 2019-20, but he has yet to appear in the NBA.
And Miller is a 6-foot tall 27-year-old guard who finished his college career at UNC-Greensboro in 2020-21 and has also not played in the NBA yet.

49ers WR Mike Evans leaves game against Commanders with an Achilles tendon injury
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — San Francisco 49ers receiver Mike Evans left Monday night's game against the Washington Commanders with an Achilles tendon injury and the team said he would not return.
Evans had been bothered the past week by an injury to the tendon and didn't practice leading up to the game. He has also been playing through two broken ribs.
Evans had three catches for 94 yards in the first half before leaving the game after a 16-yard catch late in the second quarter. Evans limped off the field and was seen trying to stretch out his lower leg in the tunnel before going back to the locker room.
He didn't return for the second half and was ruled out for the game. The 49ers are already missing several receivers with Ricky Pearsall, De'Zhaun Stribling, Deebo Samuel, Demarcus Robinson and Christian Kirk all sidelined. Robinson and Kirk could return as soon as next week.
There was no immediate word on the severity of the injury to Evans but the Niners are hoping it won't be long-term.
The 33-year-old Evans has been a key part of the 49ers' offense in his first season in San Francisco. He has 27 catches for 420 yards and three touchdowns despite dealing with the broken ribs since Week 3.
Evans is a six-time Pro Bowler and topped 1,000 yards receiving in each of his first 11 seasons in the NFL with Tampa Bay. He was held to just 368 yards last season when he was limited to eight games because of injuries.
San Francisco linebacker Luke Gifford also left the game with a groin injury and his return was questionable.

Lakers Depth Chart For Final Roster After Dalton Knecht Release
HOUSTON, TEXAS - MARCH 16: Dalton Knecht #4 of the Los Angeles Lakers reacts during pregame warm ups against the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center on March 16, 2026 in Houston, Texas. (Photo by Kenneth Richmond/Getty Images) GettyT he news of the Los Angeles Lakers releasing Dalton Knecht confirms the final roster entering the NBA regular season. Bronny James and Jaden Hardy survived the cut and will make the roster to keep their jobs. Knecht was not expected to get strong playing time, but he removes a player who could give the team some minutes at the shallow small forward position.
Current Lakers depth chart entering season:
PG: Luka Doncic/Collin Sexton
SG: Austin Reaves/Cameron Carr
SF: Quentin Grimes/Ziaire Williams
PF: Jake LaRavia/ Sandro Mamukelashvili
C: Walker Kessler/Kevon Looney
Also on roster: Bronny James, Jaden Hardy, Jarred Vanderbilt, Matisse Thybulle, Adou Thiero
It is impossible to know the Lakers’ starting lineup for sure until JJ Redick announces the five ahead of opening night. Jake LaRavia and Quentin Grimes are not confirmed to start, but both will get a placement in the rotation based off their skill sets and preseason minutes.
Knecht could have helped at the small forward position, but the Lakers have been impressed by Ziaire Williams. The “three and D” wing player gave them enough faith in his minutes to lose Knecht as the least valuable name on the roster. Redick lost faith in Knecht last season and saw them growing even worse in this preseason.
Why Lakers Kept Bronny James & Others Over Dalton KnechtThe decision came down to whether the Lakers wanted to get rid of a guard where they had more depth. Bronny and Hardy are third string players who may not get any playing time at all to start the season.
Signing Collin Sexton was a huge move to change the rotation by adding a dynamic guard off the bench. Some pundits felt like Bronny or Hardy could get cut due to Sexton having such a strong role by playing 25+ guard minutes off the bench.
The Lakers genuinely view Bronny as a talented prospect and don’t want to give up on him before seeing more from the youngster. Hardy holds the same appeal, but they are just now getting to see him play after the trade with the Washington Wizards. Lakers’ management saw more appeal from these two names than Knecht.
JJ Redick Has Stressful Job This SeasonThe Lakers’ depth chart is more confusing than most other teams around the league. Only three players of Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, and Walker Kessler are clear cut starters who should be expected to start and close every game.
Both forward positions are a bit difficult to process after losing both starters LeBron James and Rui Hachimura this offseason. Knecht hoped that his value as a three-point shooting wing player would save his job, but it wasn’t meant to be.
Redick will be tasked with figuring out which forwards have the best chance to thrive in the rotation. Jake LaRavia’s experience with the team and shooting ability sees him ready to start, but Jarred Vanderbilt’s contract could see him forced in. Regardless, expect Redick to experiment and hope to find his ideal forwards along the way.

Former NFL first-rounder just got released, should Steelers pursue signing?
Thanks to a Las Vegas Raiders roster move, a former first-round draft pick has just become available for the Pittsburgh Steelers to sign.
According to NFL insider Ari Meirov, the Raiders released former New York Giants first-rounder Evan Neal. The Steelers would be wise to pay close attention, given that Neal would make an excellent depth option for Pittsburgh's inconsistent offensive line.
"The Raiders have released T/G Evan Neal," Meirov wrote via X. "The former No. 7 overall pick of the Giants was on the practice squad."

Neal, who was an exceptional offensive tackle for Alabama, was drafted by the Giants with the seventh overall pick in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He unfortunately struggled to make an impact in New York and would eventually transition to guard.
With offensive tackle and guard versatility, Neal would be a strong acquisition for Pittsburgh, immediately competing with Brock Hoffman and Max Iheanachor for a starting shot while also serving as a top depth piece.

Askarov Bounces Back, But Sharks Fall 3-1 to Maple Leafs

TORONTO — The San Jose Sharks visit the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena.
Mason Marchment scored, but the Sharks lost 3-1.
Period 11 in: Misa too casual going back with puck, loses it to Nylander. Has to be more aware. Pace just hasn’t caught up yet.
3 in: Dickinson cuts in to net, tries a beaut backhand. Like the confidence.
9 left: Stenberg comes out of wall pile with puck, decisively, which is how he’s looked all night. He may say Toronto passing on him doesn’t bug him, but he’s a competitor.
7 left: Telegraphed PP entry pass by Marchment, frittering away valuable time.
Marchment goal: Great work by Toffoli high, picked off an exit pass, and threw it toward the net where Marchment still was, all alone. Marchment did the rest. How many killer passes does Toffoli have to make for the fanbase to forgive his lack of footspeed? So far this year, have to say, he just makes plays.
6 left: Sharp Celebrini dump-in, Smith doesn’t win it but he can touch it, give it to Kesselring. Kesselring shows his patience in corner, waits for lane to Smith, who laces the one-timer. Big Bobrovsky save.
Orlov penalty: Period turning point. Not a good penalty from Orlov, reaching out there. San Jose Sharks were having a good kill, now have to kill a 5-on-3 for a minute though.
3 left: Another solid Sharks kill. Trouba comes out, and puck is high, he basically throws it down the length of the ice. Then Goodrow, strong stick in the slot on Marchenko, Dickinson sprawls out to stop a pass.
10 seconds left, Dickinson takes in time and place, just lofts it down the ice soft so there’s on icing, good read there. He’s getting it.
Solid Sharks period, though NST seemed to make it more even than I thought. I thought San Jose better, more dangerous at 5-on-5.
Period 27 in: Askarov gloves McCabe shot. He’s looked calm and collected so far. Big game for him, lots of eyes on him.
8 in: Now an Askarov stop on a Nylander one-timer. I liked the San Jose Sharks’ first period, but the Leafs have been clearly better in the second.
9 in: Now Sissons with a bang-bang one-timer, great McKenna feed, Askarov stands tall. Sharks need to find their form, but Askarov also needed a game like this. Now’s time for the San Jose Sharks to push back though, they’re starting to leave Askarov out to dry.
10 in: Kesselring telegraphs an exit pass, counterattack, and while his skating helps Sharks avoid damage
9 left: Brilliant Smith move high, but then overpassing, I think, from Celebrini and Smith. I feel these are the moments, Leafs have controlled play in period, just smash a shot and crash the net. Don’t need to create a Grade-A. Feel of the game.
8 left: Best San Jose Sharks forecheck and cycle shift of the period, courtesy of the Wennberg line. Just back to the basics.
6 left: Just marvelous backhanded spin-o-rama stretch pass from Celebrini to Smith. Only 71 has license for that pretty much on this team. Then terrific pressure from that line, the Sharks are picking it up.
4 left: Tough power play for Orlov, took puck to face, and crushed by Duhaime on forecheck.
3 left: Getting a little too wide-open, but Misa had set up a Trouba one-timer from the middle top of the circles. Big save, then Leafs come down for 2-on-1, Nylander to Matthews, but beaut desperation defense by Dickinson, stops the pass.
2 left: Great forecheck effort by Sherwood on Stecher, the defenseman wasn’t ready for that.
1 left: San Jose Sharks surging, wrong time for a too many men of the ice penalty. Looks like Celebrini jumped too early? Not a good penalty.
Matthews goal: Matthews takes a couple steps away from Goodrow low, Marchenko quick pass, Matthews isn’t missing from there. Tough way to end the period.
Period 32 in: Good vision by Graf to drop it off to Nurse, backhander touches post. Graf, despite lack of production, looks overall more dangerous to me this year. I think points will come, especially with more offensive responsibility.
McKenna goal: That’ll change the narrative, at least for a night here. Goodrow had a big block, but the Sharks couldn’t clear it. Just too many penalties is the story of this game right now. Let’s see if the Sharks can answer back, find their game. Wennberg to the locker room won’t help.
5 in: Brilliant Smith centering pass, but Celebrini crossbar. So close!
6 in: Graf is centering Toffoli and Marchment now. But Wennberg now back on the bench, good news.
9 left: Good PK trackback by Stenberg, but felt like he forced the pass to Smith there right before.
8 left: San Jose Sharks power play seem to be struggling with entries.
6 left: Sherwood drop to Graf in slot, great chance.
4 left: Sherwood there though, in slot, shoot it! Extra pass, no chance.

San Francisco 49ers kicker Eddy Pineiro missed another extra-point attempt Monday night against the Washington Commanders, extending an unusual trend during his tenure with the team.
The miss followed Christian McCaffrey’s 1-yard touchdown run in the first quarter at Levi’s Stadium. It came after quarterback Brock Purdy converted a fourth-and-3 with a scramble for a first down.
Pineiro’s failed attempt left San Francisco leading 13-3 with approximately four minutes remaining in the opening quarter.

The 31-year-old kicker has been considerably more reliable on field goals than extra points since joining the franchise in 2025.
The San Francisco Standard’s David Lombardi noted the disparity Monday on X, formerly Twitter, pointing to the veteran’s contrasting kicking numbers.
“That’s Eddy Piñeiro’s 7th missed extra point with the 49ers. He’s only missed 4 field goals with SF.”
The extra-point struggles contrast with Pineiro’s impressive 2025 campaign, when he led the NFL in field-goal percentage. He converted 28 of 29 attempts for a 96.6% success rate.
However, he also missed four of his 38 extra-point attempts that season, an inconsistency that has carried into 2026.
In March, San Francisco rewarded the former Florida kicker with a four-year, $17 million contract extension following his strong field-goal performance.
Through the first five games this season, Pineiro made five of eight field-goal attempts and 17 of 19 extra points.
His kicking inconsistencies have surfaced despite the 49ers’ undefeated start. Just one week earlier, he delivered a game-winning 44-yard field goal against the Seattle Seahawks, helping the team remain unbeaten.
At the two-minute warning of the first half, the 49ers held a 13-3 lead over the Commanders with the ball at Washington’s 11-yard line, as San Francisco pursued its sixth consecutive victory despite Pineiro’s extra-point struggles.

‘Very Tough Look for Dan Quinn,’ ‘Why Is He Still Employed?’ — NFL Fans React to Commanders HC Being Confused vs. 49ers on MNF
‘Very Tough Look for Dan Quinn,’ ‘Why Is He Still Employed?’ — NFL Fans React to Commanders HC Being Confused vs. 49ers on MNFThe Washington Commanders had a chance to beat the New York Giants last week but botched the final seconds of overtime, allowing the clock to expire before they could attempt a game-winning field goal and settling for a tie.
A week later, Washington once again made a costly situational mistake. This time, head coach Dan Quinn appeared confused afterward, drawing heavy criticism from NFL fans.
NFL Fans Rip Dan Quinn’s Confused Reaction to Mistake on 4th DownOn fourth down in the red zone, Quinn appeared to have decided to roll the dice and go for it. A flag was thrown on the play, and QB Jayden Daniels threw the ball away out of the back of the end zone. The flag was on the Commanders, so a turnover on downs ensued.
Quinn looked confused on the sideline, as if he didn’t realize it was fourth down and wasn’t aware that his team was going for it. It’s safe to say he got ripped for this.
“This is a very tough look for Dan Quinn. Looks like he thought the 4th down play was 3rd down. Very tough, especially after last week,” said NBC Sports analyst JP Finlay.
It’s eerily similar to a quote from former Commanders head coach Ron Rivera, who was shocked when a reporter told him his team could be eliminated after a loss. A Packers victory eliminated them from playoff contention that same day.

“This is worse than Ron saying ‘we could be eliminated'” said one fan.
This confusion cost his team points, with the Commanders facing a 20-3 deficit at halftime and Terry McLaurin being carted off; it looks to be game over for Washington. These mental mistakes are costing them, and the coaching is partly responsible. Fans want to see Quinn fired after tonight’s brutal showing.

“Lmaooooo fire this clown into the sun. Embarrassment,” said one fan.
“Why is he still employed? I can’t,” added another frustrated fan.
It didn’t stop there, as Commanders fans aren’t resting until the head coach is relieved of his duties. Simple mistakes that can’t happen in high school and college football, let alone the NFL, are happening to Quinn’s teams weekly.
“FIRE DAN QUINN!!!! WHAT A JOKE HOLY [EXPLETIVE],” said Josh Taylor, an analyst and Commanders fan.
Quinn had the excuse of Daniels’ multiple injuries to absolve him of the blame for a poor 2025 season. Now, there’s no excuse, and his team looks unprepared.
The Commanders’ defense ranks 26th in PFN’s Defense Impact Metric, which is supposed to be Quinn’s calling card. It’s a disaster in Washington, and a change appears to be coming soon.

MLB Insider Reveals Pathway For Shane Bieber Return to Blue Jays
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - OCTOBER 28: Shane Bieber #57 of the Toronto Blue Jays throws a pitch in the second inning against the Los Angeles Dodgers in game four of the 2025 World Series at Dodger Stadium on October 28, 2025 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Harry How/Getty Images) Getty
Shane Bieber makes feelings clear on free agency. GettyThe season for the Toronto Blue Jays that began with understandably high expectations in the wake of their American League Championship last fall ended in disappointment, as the club failed to defend their title and missed making the postseason.
During the campaign, the Blue Jays also bid goodbye to a handful of players, including pitchers Kevin Gausman and Jeff Hoffman.
Speaking of pitchers, Shane Bieber is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after completing the second year of his two-year, $26 million contract. What are the chances that he’ll be back with the club in 2027?
What Are The Chances Of Shane Bieber Returning To The Toronto Blue Jays Next Season?
GettyShane Bieber makes feelings clear on free agency.
Are the Blue Jays going to bring back Bieber, who missed the start of this most recent season and was limited to just 11 games?
MLB analyst Keegan Matheson explored the issue in a recent piece, in which he notes that his Bieber’s next contract could look a lot different than many expected just a few months ago, especially coming off another injury-shortened season
“Bieber, still just 31, is obviously the most attractive name among the Blue Jays’ pending free agents,” Matheson wrote via MLB.com. “For a brief, healthy moment in 2026, it felt like Bieber could pitch his way into the qualifying offer conversation, but now he profiles as a rebound candidate, fresh off a 4.37 ERA over 11 starts in another injury-shortened season.”
Matheson then indicated that the Blue Jays could have an intriguing way to bring him back without making a major financial commitment.
“Depending on the overall value, club and player options come into play here, and incentives could be attractive to either side,” he said. “The Blue Jays leaned heavily into incentives for innings pitched with Scherzer this past year, whose base salary of $3 million had $10 million in potential incentives for innings pitched. That’s the extreme end of the spectrum, but still, incentives feel probable in a Bieber deal.”
He concluded:
“Bieber remains an option, though, and if he truly believed in the Blue Jays to help establish his free-agent value a year ago, not much has changed.”
This season, Bieber went 5-2 with a 4.37 ERA, a 1.42 WHIP, and 44 strikeouts.
Shane Bieber Is Coming Off His First Full Campaign In TorontoBieber was taken by the Cleveland Indians in the fourth round of the 2016 MLB Draft, and he immediately started making his way up in the organization. After reaching the majors in 2018, he won 11 games as a rookie before breaking out in 2019, when he made his first All-Star team, won All-Star Game MVP and finished fourth in AL Cy Young voting.
Bieber had a strong season in 2020, leading the American League in wins, ERA and strikeouts to win the pitching Triple Crown and unanimously claim the AL Cy Young Award.
He battled injuries after his 2020 Cy Young season but remained effective when healthy, including a 2022 campaign in which he posted a 2.88 ERA over 200 innings and won a Gold Glove.
An elbow injury led to Tommy John surgery in 2024, and Cleveland traded him to Toronto in July 2025 as he rehabbed. Bieber returned that August, helping the Blue Jays reach the World Series before exercising his $16 million option for 2026.
